The city administration needed a dataset that included waste bins of various capacities and types, reflecting diverse conditions of time of day and weather. The goal was to train a neural network to monitor timely waste removal and optimize logistics for waste collection vehicles
Our solution:
The key to the dataset was having photos taken at different times of the day and under various weather conditions. To achieve this, we decided to collect 5000 images through crowdsourcing. Additionally, to meet the remaining requirements, we assembled a quick-response group. This group traversed designated routes through residential areas, capturing the necessary content for the client, even in rainy or nighttime conditions
Results:
- The client successfully improved the performance of their model by 85% in various street conditions
- This initiative also expedited the response of government services to filled waste bins
